About Me

2020 Neltje Blanchan Award Winner (and 2019 Honorable Mention) for writing “informed by a relationship with the natural world.”

Following tracks in snow or river mud is one way to read a story. Or listen to a bugling elk across a mountain; sniff your way into a mushroom patch. The earth shares stories, and i try to pass them along too.

Various experiences yield to a story impulse: guiding llama pack trips, collecting water samples, peeling logs. Work is fruitful

2019 Masters in Fine Arts awarded by Maine’s Stonecoast Program (fiction emphasis)

Undergraduate degree: Sociology/Anthropology, natural history emphasis, Minnesota’s Carleton College
